IS HAVING A STITCHED BAG OR IHRAM BELT ALLOWED WHEN IN STATE OF IHRAM?

by Hajj Safe

This is a question asked by many people and unfortunately there are misconceptions about this issue, so we would like to clarify this point.

We have asked Imams and scholars about this point. The poster below shows you what some scholars have said.

Let’s look at this logically: during the time of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) they didn’t have certain technology, which we have today, such as producing sandals with special types of injection mold or glue, and popper buttons were invented in the 13th to 14th century, which means they did not exist during the early years of Islam.

During the Prophet’s (saws) time people would have been carrying leather water bottles, which would have been stitched, and they would have had sandals that would have been stitched as they didn’t have glue or injection mould.

Modern Technology does allow us to have sandals and ihram belts made without stitching, but it does not mean that the sandals and ihram belts which have stitching are not permissible/allowed. To clarify, stitched bags and sandals are permissible and they are allowed.

To be completely clear, it is allowed/permissible to wear Ihram beltsbags, sandals and watch straps that have stitching.
